Costa de El Sauzal – walks along the ocean

I'm telling you about an extraordinary place for a quiet walk along the ocean. The road is quite suitable for a stroller, but in some places you will have to drag it over stairs and pull it uphill. But it's worth it.

The walk leads to a difficult and narrow serpentine road, one car wide. The main thing is to make sure no one gets caught. My wife says, “Honey, are you sure we’ll get there in one piece?” And I said, “The main thing is to believe!” So I just kept on driving, I couldn’t help it. There are actually places to pull over.

The parking lot in that place is small. It is difficult to find a place on weekends, so I advise you to come on weekdays.

The coastline there is just beautiful. It is natural beauty in its original form. You walk along an equipped walkway along the ocean, admire the scenery, and the sea breeze is so refreshing.

Along the way there are nice places where you can swim in natural pools and sunbathe. I would not risk swimming with children. The main thing is to be careful on slippery rocks and keep an eye on the kids.

The curious history of the Costa de El Sauzal

It turns out that there used to be a whole illegal settlement there – more than 400 houses built right on the shore! But then the island authorities got smart and decided: “Okay, guys, enough with the self-building, it’s time to stop it”. And in 2007 they bulldozed all this beauty! But now the place is clean, orderly and nature is being restored.

And the cherry on the cake is a sunken Douglas DS-3 airplane just off the coast! What a twist, huh? It was grounded in 1966 after some kind of emergency. Now it’s lying on the bottom for divers to see. It’s like a spy movie!

All in all, we had a great day on the Costa de El Sauzal. We walked around, breathed fresh air, and took many cool pictures. We even managed not to miss the stroller in the ocean.
