Playa de las Americas is one of the key tourist resorts on the island, along with Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Its beaches stretch between Adeje and Arona. The resort boasts a delightful climate all year round, and with its stunning nature, excellent food, and magnificent hotels, it’s a true paradise! In Las Americas, you can relax on the beach, go surfing, or enjoy a delicious meal at a restaurant. You can find information on how to get to Las Americas from Tenerife Airport here.
The resort isn’t as noisy as they write about it. It’s only noisy during dinner on the main street. The Las Americas beach itself is so-so, with many large pebbles and a narrow strip of sand. But the beaches closer to Los Cristianos are some of the best.
What is Playa de las Americas?
The Playa de las Americas resort area was built in the 1960s. Here you’ll find restaurants, bars, nightclubs, attractions, and beaches. The resort is suitable for youth and family vacations.
Playa de las Americas Beaches
In addition to various entertainments, the pride of Playa de las Americas is its beaches, which attract those wishing to relax and unwind under the warm sun all year round. There are several beaches set up along the coast of the resort, with sand specially imported from the Sahara Desert or dredged from the seabed. Small stone dams protect the beaches from erosion. The ocean water is around 21-24 degrees year-round — ideal for vacationing families with children.
There’s no need to drag an umbrella or sun lounger — everything can be rented right on the beach. Prices are around €6 for a sun lounger or €12-16 for 2 sun loungers and an umbrella. There are showers, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, sports areas, and children’s play zones. The beaches are equipped for people with disabilities, and lifeguards are on duty.
In my opinion, Camison and Troya beaches are the best for swimming, but Las Americas is not, and it’s not even a beach, really.
Main Beaches in Playa de las Americas
Playa del Camisón
Playa del Camisón is located near five-star hotels and stretches almost 400 m long and 40 m wide. …Golden sand, a picturesque promenade with palm trees and jetties protecting from waves. Camison beach is suitable for vacationing with children. Sandy entrance, gradual depth increase, no waves, and warm water. There is a free outdoor shower and toilet.
Playa de Las Vistas
Playa de Las Vistas is a comfortable sandy beach with yellow sand, clean water, a long comfortable entrance, and a beautiful promenade. Nearby is a port where ferries from neighboring islands arrive.
Playa de las Américas
Playa de las Americas (or Playa Honda) is clearly not suitable for swimming. The entrance to the water is poor, with sharp stones underfoot, and waves at any time of day or night and year-round. The beach is 250 m long and 45 m wide. This beach is good for surfers waiting for big waves or for watching them. There’s even a surfing school here.
Playas de Troya
Playas de Troya is located in the very center of Playa de las Americas. It’s 400 m long and 80 m wide. This is the main party beach in the city. There are many budget hotels, restaurants, bars, and shopping malls around. Nearby is Veronicas Street, which has a bad reputation as a «seedy area.» If your goal is a budget vacation and parties, this is for you!
Troya Beach has been awarded the «Blue Flag» for cleanliness and service level, but it often has quite high waves due to improperly constructed breakwater jetties. The sand is fine and golden in color.
Playa de El Bobo
Playa de El Bobo is the beach of the Gran Tinerfe 4* hotel. It’s very small: 150 m long and 60 m wide.

Attractions of Las Americas
Siam Park
Siam Park is not just a water park, it’s an entire empire of water adventures. Under the scorching sun of Tenerife, a piece of distant Asia is hidden. Each attraction here is a challenge: from steep descents to lazy rivers. And it’s all designed in the mysterious Siamese style, where every stone and statue tells its own story.
Siam Mall
Siam Mall is a Thai-style shopping center. Inside, it’s pretty standard: main stores like Mango, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Zara, Timberland, etc., a Dino hypermarket, a food court, and a trampoline park. There’s a large parking lot. A free shuttle bus runs to the mall.
Monkey Park
Monkey Park is a small slice of wilderness where you can not only see jungle inhabitants but interact with them. In addition to monkeys, there are iguanas, turtles, guinea pigs, noisy beautiful toucans, colorful parrots, crocodiles, and monitor lizards.
Cultural Center of Los Cristianos
The Cultural Center of Los Cristianos (Centro Cultural de Los Cristianos) is the heart of cultural life in the municipality of Arona (on Google Maps). It hosts concerts, festivals, exhibitions, and workshops, has a library, and provides services for residents. The center building is a traditional Spanish structure located on the beautiful Plaza del Pescador square with a statue of a boy catching fish.
Auditorio Infanta Leonor
Auditorio Infanta Leonor is a cozy venue for big emotions (on Google Maps). The theater has a small but comfortable auditorium, with good acoustics.
Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen
The history of the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Carmen (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen) began in 1924, when wealthy families from Arona and Vilaflor built a hermitage on this site dedicated to Our Lady of Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen and sailors. The hermitage was demolished, and in 1990 a new church was built in its place. The architecture of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen is traditional Spanish: a whitewashed building with a bell tower. The interior is solemn but modest (on Google Maps).
Jungle Park
Jungle Park is a small zoo with contact areas, suspension bridges and waterfalls, an obstacle course, a bobsled run, a snack bar, and sea lion shows. The trained bird of prey show is the park’s signature attraction.
Aqualand
Aqualand is an outdoor water park – one of the most popular in Europe (on Google Maps). It offers an exciting selection of water attractions for all ages. Thrill-seekers will enjoy the 25-meter ‘Tornado’ slide, while little ones have the Mini Park. Aqualand’s biggest stars are undoubtedly the dolphins – it’s the only water park with a dolphinarium on the island.
Montaña Chayofita
Between the towns of Los Cristianos and Las Americas, not far from the sea, is a small volcano – Montaña Chayofita (on Google Maps). It’s about 114 meters high. The climb is easy and doesn’t require much effort. The entire route is around 1.5 km. Your efforts will be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views of the surroundings: all the beaches of Las Americas (Camison and Las Vistas) and Los Cristianos (Los Cristianos and Parajales), the port, the Roque del Conde cliffs, Bresos and Imoke, Guaza Mountain, and, of course, the Teide volcano.
Guaza Mountain
Guaza Mountain (La Montaña de Guaza) is a natural monument (on Google Maps). Its age ranges from a maximum of 3.5 million years to a minimum of 0.67 million years. The Guanches considered the mountain sacred. Here, pre-Hispanic caves, remains of old huts and burials, as well as fossils of the extinct giant Tenerife rat were found. Guaza reaches a height of 428 m above sea level and consists of two concentric volcanic craters. Montaña de Guaza is an ideal place for nesting birds: petrels, yellow-legged gulls, trumpeter finches, and kestrels. There, you can see giant lizards and mullets. From the mountain, you can enjoy panoramic views of the resorts of Los Cristianos and Las Americas.
