Tenerife North Airport

The North Airport of Tenerife (Tenerife North Airport, TFN) is also an international airport. However, it mostly handles air traffic between the islands of the Canary archipelago and provides connections with mainland Spain. The North Airport has another name – Los Rodeos. This name has been preserved since the time when there was a military airport located on its site.

The Los Rodeos Airport is located in the center of the northeastern part of the island and is convenient for those who plan to spend their vacation in Puerto de la Cruz, as it is only 25 km away. The capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is even closer to the North Airport, about 18 km away. The major resort of Las Américas is 85 km away, and the South Airport is about 65 km away.

The Tenerife North Airport is not inferior to the South Airport in terms of comfort level and range of services, but it is still considered a secondary airport. This is due to its unfortunate location. The North Airport does not operate flights during the night due to landscape features, and it can be closed even during the day due to unfavorable weather conditions typical for the northern part of the island.

Airlines flying from Tenerife North Airport

There are no direct flights from Russia to Tenerife North. You can travel by connecting flight with Iberia, with a stopover at the Madrid airport. Ryanair flies from Madrid and Barcelona.

AENA Vip Nivaria business lounge at Tenerife North Airport

The airport has a pretty decent business lounge. We visited it using the EveryLounge app with free passes from Tinkoff Premium. Everything works without cards through the app and the Tinkoff account.

Parking at the airport

The airport has a standard AENA parking lot, like in all Spanish airports. There is a regular parking on the lower floors of the building, and there is an economical parking lot within a 5-minute walk. Book in advance through the AENA website or app for a cheaper rate.

How to get to Tenerife North Airport?

You can reach Tenerife Norte from the South Airport, the island’s capital, and the resorts of Las Américas and Puerto de la Cruz by direct bus. From smaller resorts on Tenerife, you can reach the North Airport by bus with just one transfer. Of course, you can also take a taxi to the airport, with the fare calculated strictly by the meter, at a single rate. However, keep in mind that the rate varies depending on the time of day and whether it’s an urban or intercity ride.
