The best restaurants and cafes in Puerto de la Cruz

I'm sharing my favorite places to eat, drink, or indulge in the town of Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife. I'll tell you about restaurants, cafes, and bars that I find interesting.

Bars, Cafés and Pastry Shops

La Familia Bakery Pastry Shop

If you’re searching for a place to try real homemade pastries and bread in Tenerife, be sure to visit Panadería Pastelería “La Familia”. I recommend trying their signature syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes). And the black bread they bake there – borodinsky and darnytsky, almost homemade. For desserts, I can recommend the carrot cake (tarta de zanahoria) and honey cake. I also really liked the smash burger, although I’m usually not a fan of fast food. Google maps.

I was also impressed by the variety of breakfasts (desayunos) and brunches (brunchs). We tried the Mediterranean and Italian options – very filling and delicious. The focaccia with sauces was also a hit. Overall, this place has become a real gastronomic attraction for me in Puerto de la Cruz.

Marboré Bar Café

A tasty and inexpensive café in the city center. The selection of cakes is simply huge, always fresh and very appetizing in appearance. I once had a chocolate one, and it just melted in my mouth. I also liked the walnut cake and various cookies. The price for a large slice is only around €3. Google Maps.

There used to be a parrot here that entertained guests with its singing. It’s a pity it’s gone, but the staff says they’ll soon have a new feathered resident. Prices are very reasonable, I usually spend around 10 euros. A burger with french fries costs only 5.75. In general, if you’re in Puerto, I highly recommend stopping by this café, especially for breakfast or lunch.

Alberto’s Bar

It’s a bit off the main tourist routes, almost hidden in the shade of Taoro Park. But if you know where to go, it’s not difficult to find.

The bar’s main feature is the stunning view of the city and ocean. Alberto’s Bar is especially good at sunset. At that time, almost all the seats on the open terrace are typically taken. But even if you can’t get a table outside, the inside of the bar is also very cozy and atmospheric.

The selection of drinks is quite decent: from classic cocktails to signature mixes. We just had beer and bocadillos (sandwiches). The prices are quite reasonable, especially for a tourist town. For foods, I recommend trying the “Neapolitano” pizza – hearty, tasty, and the portion is enough for two.

There are, however, a couple of caveats worth noting. First, it’s not easy to park near the bar, it’s better to leave your car at Taoro Park and walk. Second, the staircase leading from the city to the bar is quite high and steep – it may be difficult for people with limited mobility or with strollers. Google maps.
