Bajamar

An entirely atypical resort for Tenerife, where an extraordinary atmosphere of peace and tranquility reigns. You can't swim in the ocean here due to the rocky shoreline, but there are 2 large seawater pools offering stunning views. Stop by to see the massive waves crashing on the promenade during a storm.

Bajamar

Bajamar is a fishing village, a quiet resort town on the coast, 14 km from La Laguna. With its atmosphere, this natural oasis in the north of Tenerife differs from the noisy large resorts of the island and is suitable for a quiet family vacation.

The resort is located in a picturesque setting, next to the magnificent Anaga Rural Park. Nearby the town, there is good surfing. In terms of relaxation and swimming, there’s not much to do in the town, there are better places.

Two natural pools (Piscinas de Bajamar) have been carved out of the rocky coastline, which fill with cool, clean water during high tides. In addition to the large lagoons for swimming, there is also a small tidal pool for children. The small beach of the Bajamar resort is covered with imported yellow sand and protected by a special dam, against which the ocean waves beautifully break during storms.

The cleanliness of the sand and water is constantly monitored, there are lifeguards and changing cabins.

Next to the pools, there is a small lighthouse. Take impressive photos against the picturesque landscapes and the lighthouse, especially when the ocean is rough and the waves crash against the promenade.

Lighthouse in Punta del Hidalgo

Not far from the town, I recommend visiting the stylish Faro de la Punta del Hidalgo lighthouse.

Playa de Jover Beach

A rocky beach with natural pools is located a little away from the town. It will take about a 10-minute walk.

Jurada Cave

If you go even further along the coast, you’ll find an unusual rock with a hole – Cueva Jurada. Bring your swimsuits and towels. Take a dip in one of the turquoise lagoons.

How to get to the Bajamar pools?

From the city of La Laguna to the town of Bajamar, you can reach in about half an hour by bus 50, or by bus 224 – in a little over an hour. The one-way fare is €1.45. Check the schedule here.
