In Valencia, everyone can find a beach for themselves. There are city beaches and wild ones, equipped beaches and those hidden in coves and among the dunes. Some of them are perfectly suited for surfing, kitesurfing, and paddleboarding.
City beaches are the most equipped and crowded. They are regularly awarded Blue Flags for cleanliness and service. Beaches located in the Albufera Natural Park area are rarely crowded even in high season. They are valued for their peaceful relaxation.
Playa de las Arenas, Playa de la Malvarrosa and Playa de la Patacona
To the north of the city port, there are three city beaches that merge seamlessly into each other: Playa de las Arenas (on Google Maps), Playa de la Malvarrosa (on Google Maps), and Playa de la Patacona (on Google Maps). Their length is about 4 km, with an average width of 60 m. The fine golden sand, clean water, and gentle entry make them suitable for families with children. The beaches are equipped, and along them runs a promenade with palm trees, flowers, fountains, and sculptures. But the beaches are crowded. For active recreation lovers, there are sports grounds, and facilities for surfing and diving. And of course, there are bars and restaurants offering Valencian cuisine and more.
You can reach the beach:
- by bus 19, 31, 32, 92, 93, 95, 98;
- by tram 4, 6, 8;
- by car (there’s free parking);
- by bicycle.
Playa de la Devesa del Saler
Devesa del Saler (Playa de la Devesa del Saler) (on Google Maps) is a wild beach away from the city’s hustle and bustle with clean water, golden sand, and coastal dunes. Nearby, there’s a lake and a river flows. The beach stretches approximately 3 km. It’s quiet, peaceful, and uncrowded here. Nearby, there are a couple of restaurants and the Albufera reserve. You’ll often find sunbathing nudists on Playa de la Devesa.
You can reach the beach:
- by bus 24, 25, stop at Embarcador de l’Albufera (II). From the stop, it’s about a 20-minute (1.5 km) walk to the beach;
- by car (there’s parking nearby);
- by bicycle.
Playa de Pinedo
Pinedo (Playa de Pinedo) (on Google Maps) is a beach with fine golden sand, small waves, and a view of the port. It is suitable for elderly people and families with children. It borders the new mouth of the Turia River and the Saler beach and is part of the protected territory of the Albufera Natural Park. Along Playa de Pinedo, there is a promenade about 3 km long with bars and restaurants. The beach has a designated area for dog-friendly relaxation and a nudist area extending from Casa Negra to the old Plexi factory.
You can reach the beach:

- by car (there are parking areas);
- by bicycle.
After relaxing on the beach, it’s nice to sit in a restaurant on the promenade. Check out my selection of restaurants.
