Gran Canaria Airport

Another international airport of the Canary Islands is located on the east side of the island of Gran Canaria and is called Aeropuerto de Gran Canaria, LPA. Since it’s the only airport on the island, it handles both international and domestic flights.

Its advantageous geographic location with favorable weather conditions that allow it to operate 24 hours a day make it the largest airport in the Canary Islands in terms of passenger traffic and the fifth largest in Spain after the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Majorca, and Malaga.

The distance from Gran Canaria Airport to the island’s largest resort, Maspalomas, is about 25 km, and to the island’s capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it’s approximately 18 km.

How to get to Gran Canaria Airport?

The simplest but not the most economical way is to take a taxi.

However, shuttle buses run from most resorts on the island to the airport. For example, you can take bus #60 from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or #66 from Maspalomas. Both routes take about half an hour.
